Special Educational Needs (SEN) on camp!

At United Education we try our very best to make sure that our Camps are inclusive and accessible for as many children as we can. We aim to collaborate with parents and guardians as much as possible to help make sure our setting is the right fit for their child and that we can meet their needs.

Adventure Camps proudly welcomes children of all abilities and special needs. Our robust collaboration with various agencies and local authorities aids us in aligning our processes with the latest Department of Education guidelines. This ensures all children, regardless of their unique needs, are given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in our camp activities.

If you think that your child may need some additional support during their time with us, please do contact us via email at hello@united-education.co.uk or over the phone on 01134830280. This is so that we can make sure your child has the best time with us whilst meeting their needs.

SEN Lead

Each site has a dedicated liaison for special educational needs and disabilities within our camps. Adventure Camps is committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment for all our attendees, making our facilities and activities as accommodating as possible. Each child with special educational needs or disabilities can expect their needs to be attended to, with their progress regularly reviewed and addressed.

Please be aware that while Adventure Camps warmly welcomes all children, we are unable to provide one-on-one supervision. However, children who need personalized supervision can still participate in our camps if they are accompanied by their own carer with a valid and clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

As a forward-thinking organization, we ensure all our staff are well-trained as per the Department for Education’s ‘Code of Practice: Identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs’ (2001). If we identify a child who may require additional educational support, we promptly initiate a confidential conversation with their parent or guardian to discuss the best course of action.

Complex Needs

Alternatively, if your child has quite complex needs, we also have available an Additional Support Assessment (ASA) form, that runs alongside the SEN information section on our booking system. This form can be completed prior to your child attending one of our settings. The form will ask a series of questions designed to help us identify if we can meet your child’s needs at camp.

You can access this form by clicking the button below. If you have any questions about the ASA form before completing it, please contact our customer service team by email at hello@united-education.co.uk .

Collaborative Efforts

Adventure Camps proudly welcomes children of all abilities and special needs. Our robust collaboration with various agencies and local authorities aids us in aligning our processes with the latest Department of Education guidelines. This ensures all children, regardless of their unique needs, are given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in our camp activities.

For any inquiries or discussions related to our inclusive policies and practices, our Camp Manager and Customer Care Team are more than willing to provide assistance, ensuring your child’s experience at Adventure Camps is nothing short of fantastic.

About Me Passport

If your child’s booking onto a programme has been accepted, you will then be provided with a ‘United Education Passport’ (also known as an ‘all about me’ booklet). The passport is a small booklet that we have created which you and your child will be able to fill in and personalise. This passport has space for you to include information that will be useful for the leaders working with your child.
