Social Media Policy

Adventure Camps recognises that many staff use social media to connect with friends, family and professional networks. However, this must be balanced with our duty to maintain confidentiality, safeguard children and families, and protect the reputation of the Camp.

All staff are ambassadors for Adventure Camps both during and outside working hours and are expected to conduct themselves professionally when using social media platforms.

Scope of This Policy #

This policy applies to (but is not limited to):

• Facebook
• Instagram
• X (formerly Twitter)
• TikTok
• YouTube
• LinkedIn
• Online forums and discussion boards
• Personal blogs and websites
• Comments posted on third-party websites

Social Media Rules for Staff #

• Staff must not post content that could damage the reputation of Adventure Camps.
• Staff must not post content that could offend colleagues, parents or children.
• Staff must not publish photographs, videos or information that could identify children or the Camp.
• Staff must not discuss confidential matters relating to children, families or colleagues online.
• Staff must not accept or initiate social media connections with parents unless there is an existing private relationship outside of Camp.
• Staff must not discuss concerns or complaints with parents via social media and must direct them to appropriate communication channels.

Any breach of this policy may result in disciplinary action in line with the Staff Disciplinary Policy.

General Guidance When Using Social Media #

• Information shared online is rarely fully private or secure.
• If you would not be comfortable with information becoming public, do not post it.
• Images and comments placed online may remain accessible permanently.
