Staff Code of Conduct

3 min read

Why This Matters #

Every child, parent, and colleague is counting on us to bring the magic, the energy, and the professionalism that makes Adventure Camps unforgettable. This isn’t just about rules — it’s about the way we work, the culture we create, and the standard we hold ourselves to.

Think of this as your script for being part of the show. Follow it, and you’ll help us deliver the Disneyland-level experience we promise every family.

The Golden Rules #

1. Safety First, Always 🛡️ #

  • Keep children in sight and under supervision at all times.
  • Follow ratios, registers, and headcounts without fail.
  • Safeguarding is non-negotiable — if you see or hear something concerning, report it immediately to the Site Manager or DSL.

2. Be the Energy ⚡ #

  • Bring positivity and enthusiasm, even on the tough days.
  • Smile, engage, and set the tone — children will mirror your energy.
  • Never sit back and “watch” — always get involved, join in, and make it fun.

3. Professional at All Times 🎩 #

  • Wear the correct uniform with pride.
  • No phones in zones. Your eyes should always be on the children.
  • Speak respectfully to children, parents, and colleagues — no gossip, no negativity.
  • Punctuality is part of professionalism. Be on time, ready, and prepared.

4. Make Every Child Feel Seen 👀 #

  • Learn names quickly and use them often.
  • Include everyone — adapt activities so no child is left out.
  • Celebrate effort, not just success. The shy child who joins in for the first time deserves as much recognition as the one who scores the winning goal.

5. Respect & Boundaries 🤝 #

  • Be friendly, not friends — maintain clear, professional boundaries with children.
  • No inappropriate language, jokes, or behaviour.
  • Physical contact should always be safe, appropriate, and necessary (e.g., first aid, reassurance, or safety).

6. Teamwork Makes the Magic Work ✨ #

  • Support your colleagues — step in, help out, and lift the energy when needed.
  • Communicate clearly via radios and handovers.
  • Handle disagreements professionally: raise issues with your Zone Leader or Site Manager, never in front of children.

7. Parents & Guardians Matter Too 👨‍👩‍👧 #

  • Always be approachable, polite, and professional at pick-up and drop-off.
  • Share positive feedback about children whenever possible.
  • Pass any complaints or concerns straight to the Site Manager.

The No-Go List (Crystal Clear) #

To avoid any doubt, here’s what’s absolutely not acceptable:

  • Using your phone while supervising children.
  • Being late, unprepared, or out of uniform.
  • Swearing, shouting, or humiliating children.
  • Leaving a group unsupervised.
  • Ignoring safeguarding concerns.
  • Rough play, inappropriate physical contact, or favouritism.
  • Smoking, drinking alcohol, or being under the influence at camp.

Break these, and you break trust — with children, parents, and the team.

Living the Adventure Camps Way #

The Code of Conduct isn’t about catching you out — it’s about setting you up for success. Follow it, and you’ll:

  • Keep children safe.
  • Make camp magical.
  • Build trust with parents.
  • Earn respect from colleagues.
  • Leave every day proud of the role you played.

Quick Tip #

Ask yourself at any moment: “If a parent, a child, or the Site Manager saw me right now, would they see the Adventure Camps standard?” If the answer is yes, you’re living the Code.
