Why This Matters #

Staff are the heartbeat of Adventure Camps. If they feel motivated, supported, and appreciated, children will feel it too. Energy and culture flow from the top — Site Managers and Zone Leaders are the conductors of the orchestra.

Motivation isn’t just about rewards — it’s about creating a culture where staff:

  • Feel seen and valued.
  • Have fun as part of the team.
  • Know their effort makes a difference.
  • Grow as leaders and professionals.

Fun Motivation Ideas #

  • Daily Shout-Outs at BriefingRecognise creativity, kindness, or magical moments. Make it specific, make it personal.
  • Spirit Stick for StaffNot just for kids! Award a daily Spirit Stick (or silly prop like a golden whistle) to the staff member who went above and beyond.
  • Mystery MotivatorHide a prize (snack, silly badge, glow stick) somewhere in camp. Give clues throughout the day.
  • Dress-Up ChallengeSurprise theme days just for staff (crazy socks, funny hats, team colours). Adds instant buzz.
  • Staff vs Kids GamesEnd-of-day dodgeball or tug-of-war. Kids love it, staff bond through shared fun.
  • Praise WallBig paper board in staff area: everyone writes peer shout-outs. Builds positivity and peer recognition.

  • Clear ExpectationsStaff want to know what’s expected. Be clear, consistent, and fair with rules. Clarity = confidence.

  • Keep momentum with variety.
