Staff Induction and Development Policy

All new members of staff at Adventure Camps receive a copy of the Camp’s policies and procedures. Within the first month of employment, the Manager will discuss the practical application of these policies. Staff must sign a Policy Confirmation Form to confirm that they have read and understood all policies.

Induction Process #

All new staff will complete an induction programme which includes:

  • Introduction to colleagues, children and parents/carers.
  • A full tour of the premises including fire exits, fire safety equipment, first aid kit, emergency evacuation procedures, outside areas, assembly points and any known hazards.
  • Briefing on Safeguarding, Equalities and Data Protection policies and procedures.
  • Location of records, documentation, storage areas and welfare facilities.
  • Overview of day-to-day management and operational procedures.
  • Explanation of EYFS requirements where applicable.
  • Explanation of staff processes including appraisals, training, annual leave, sickness reporting and rota systems.

Staff Development and Training #

Adventure Camps is committed to ensuring staff development needs are met and that staff qualifications and training meet the requirements of the Camp and the EYFS.

  • A structured induction process.
  • Regular supervision and performance reviews.
  • Annual appraisals.
  • Access to appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
  • A maintained record of staff qualifications and a training development plan.

Appraisals and Supervision #

The Manager will conduct an annual appraisal with each staff member. This will review performance, achievements, challenges, skills development and future training needs.

Quarterly supervision meetings will also take place to monitor progress against objectives and provide ongoing professional support.

Training Expectations #

The Manager will identify and promote relevant training opportunities to ensure staff knowledge remains current. Staff are expected to attend required training as directed.

Staff Meetings #

Regular staff meetings provide an opportunity to share information, discuss operational matters, review safeguarding updates and address any concerns.
