Why Roles Matter #

Every role at Adventure Camps plays a unique part in making camp safe, fun, and memorable. Clear responsibilities mean staff know what’s expected, children get the best possible experience, and parents trust us to deliver.


Leadership Roles #

Site Manager #

  • Role Purpose: Overall responsibility for the safe and effective running of camp.
  • Key Duties:
    • Lead daily staff briefings and debriefs.
    • Ensure safeguarding and health & safety standards are met at all times.
    • Liaise with parents, schools, and head office.
    • Manage incidents, complaints, and emergencies.
    • Oversee registers, ratios, and compliance records.
  • Reports to: Head Office.
  • Manages: All staff on site.

Programme Manager #

  • Role Purpose: Shape the daily timetable and ensure activities are high quality, inclusive, and fun.
  • Key Duties:
    • Coordinate zone rotations and scheduling.
    • Support Zone Leaders in adapting activities to age groups.
    • Monitor activity delivery and adjust plans based on weather, engagement, or safety.
  • Reports to: Site Manager.
  • Manages: Zone Leaders.

Specialist Zone Leads #

Multi Sports Lead #

  • Delivers: Football, tennis, cricket, badminton, and team sports.
  • Focus: High-energy sessions, skill development, inclusion for all abilities.
  • Additional Duties: Maintain equipment, run mini tournaments.

Perform Lead #

  • Delivers: Dance, drama, music, and theatre sessions.
  • Focus: Confidence building, creativity, teamwork.
  • Additional Duties: Organise end-of-week showcases for parents.

Crafts Lead #

  • Delivers: Art, textiles, model-making, creative crafts.
  • Focus: Expression, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Additional Duties: Keep spaces tidy and safe with materials stored securely.

Early Years Lead #

  • Delivers: Minis & Explorers (ages 3–7) programme.
  • Focus: Play-based learning, early childhood care under EYFS standards.
  • Additional Duties: Provide extra supervision for toileting, nap times, and meals.

Roaming Lead #

  • Delivers: Camp-wide events — climbing wall, inflatables, large group challenges.
  • Focus: Energy, safety, and excitement.
  • Additional Duties: Move flexibly across zones to support other leads.

Perform Senior Lead #

  • Delivers: Direction and progression for performing arts staff.
  • Focus: Maintaining professional performance standards.
  • Additional Duties: Mentor younger staff in arts-based delivery.

SEND Lead #

  • Delivers: Support for children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).
  • Focus: Inclusion, adapting sessions, supporting 1-1s and small group needs.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Train staff on reasonable adjustments.
    • Liaise with parents about individual plans.
    • Monitor progress and wellbeing of SEND participants.

Safety & Wellbeing Roles #

Lifeguard #

  • Delivers: Pool safety and supervision during swimming.
  • Focus: Prevent accidents, enforce pool rules, respond immediately to emergencies.
  • Additional Duties: May assist in other zones when not on pool duty.

Paediatric First Aider #

  • Delivers: Emergency medical response for children.
  • Focus: Quick, calm, and effective care in case of injury or illness.
  • Additional Duties: Keep first aid kits stocked, maintain accident records, train staff in basic first aid awareness.

General Roles #

Activity Lead #

  • Delivers: Multi-activity sessions (sports, arts, games, challenges).
  • Focus: High energy, engagement, safety.
  • Additional Duties: Adapt sessions for mixed age groups, ensure inclusive practice.

Group Assistant #

  • Delivers: Support for Activity Leaders, transition help between zones.
  • Focus: Encouragement, inclusion, supervision.
  • Additional Duties: Build rapport with quieter children, keep morale high.

Additional Support Roles #

Assistant Site Manager #

Zone Assistant #

  • Supports Zone Leads in delivery.
  • Helps set up, tidy, and supervise sessions.

Young Leader / Volunteer #

  • Typically aged 16–18, gaining experience.
  • Works under supervision, shadowing Activity Leaders and assisting with delivery.
